∇ A PERFORMANCE PROJECT
Balance – Ten attemps to understand the World
by Martina Droste and Stephanie EndterΔ A PERFORMANCE PROJECTBalance – Ten attemps to understand the World
A cooperation of Junges Schauspiel Frankfurt and Weltkulturen Museum by Martina Droste and Stephanie Endter
“We are Nature” (Roberta Carvalho)
This change of perspective is urgently needed, and a part of the young generation, which could be the last, is on the move, in search of new perspectives. It requires the experience of new realities, alternative visions of the world, open access to what “nature”, “environment”, “health”, “connectivity” or “meaning” can be.“How should we live? In our own body, with our personal and collective history? With the environment, the spiritual world, in global harmony?” These are the questions the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt is asking in its exhibition “healing. Life in Balance”.
A diverse ensemble of young people uses their various perspectives on healing, change, and balance in order to question their own image of themselves and the world, and to discover the potential options for treating each other – and the world – with respect.

Live in Balance". Colonial continuities in everyday life and how to deal with them are the focus. What role does colonialism play in the museum? How is our idea of nature colonially shaped? What can healing mean?
Anybody who couldn’t be there the first and second time is also most welcome to join now. You will receive details of the reading material when you book your place.

∇ THEMATIC TOUR
“A Different Modernism: Indigenous Art in the Weltkulturen Museum”
With Dr. Eva Ch. Raabe (Director, Weltkulturen Museum)Δ THEMATIC TOUR“A Different Modernism: Indigenous Art in the Weltkulturen Museum”
with Dr. Eva Ch. Raabe (director, Weltkulturen Museum)
Modernism in art stands for breaking with tradition and for an otherness or difference that initially seems shocking. In contrast, many contemporary Indigenous artists prioritise the depiction of cultural traditions. Their works exhibit a different kind of modernism, but one that – given the struggle to retain their own culture and identity – is ultimately shaped by resistance every bit as much as Western modernism. The tour traces this artistic resistance, examining works by Roldán Pinedo, Harry Pinedo, Feliciano Lana and Pablo Amaringo.

Meditative exploring of the exhibition
with Martin Brüger (Meditation teacher at Tibethaus Deutschland e.V., Frankfurt)In this 90-minute workshop, artist and meditation trainer Martin Brüger invites participants to establish mindful contact with self-chosen exhibition exhibits, which can facilitate an entirely individual way of accessing the artworks, objects and contents in the exhibition. The meditative exercises convey an intuitive, mindfulness-based approach to the exhibits and more generally with our world. They provide an opportunity for participants to guide, focus and further attune their own perception so that they can achieve a somewhat holistic perception of themself and their environment.
