“Sound Sources. Everything is Music!” with Jan-Philipp Kluck (research assistant)
Sounds determine our everyday lives and can be heard all around us, even in what seem to be the quietest moments. Every single place has its own soundscape, shaped by our immediate surroundings, by animals and people, by their actions and interactions. How does the setting affect the perception of what we hear? How do the environment, sound, people and music relate to each other?
Jan-Philipp Kluck takes visitors on a tour around the exhibition and enter into a dialogue with contemporary music and encourage visitors to reflect upon the significance of sounds in their own lifeworld.

Contemporary Indonesian music for the kadedek mouth organ: a portrait concert.
with Nursalim Yadi Anugerah (composer and multi-instrumentalist)
The works by Nursalim Yadi Anugerah from West Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia, are sound experiments that explore cultural practices, the knowledge and cosmologies of Indigenous peoples, and the intertwining of socio-cultural and ecological issues on Kalimantan. In this portrait concert, Anugerah chiefly presents his works for the kadedek mouth organ from West Kalimantan, which can also be seen in the exhibition. For several years now, Anugerah has been working with Bunau, the last kadedek instrument maker (see also the tour plus concert on 19 May).
Price: €15/€7.50. Please book in advance.

“A life for the kadedek” – A mouth organ from West Kalimantan, Indonesia with Bunau (instrument maker) and Nursalim Yadi Anugerah (composer)
Bunau from the village of Engkurai in West Kalimantan – the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo – is currently the only instrument maker with the skills to manufacture the kadedek, a kind of mouth organ. In recent years he has been working with the Indonesian composer Nursalim Yadi Anugerah (whose music features in a concert on 16 May). Bunau views other, non-traditional music genres as an opportunity for stopping the kadedek from falling into obscurity. In a conversation with curator Vanessa von Gliszczynski, Bunau talks about the kadedek and demonstrates the instrument’s sound. Nursalim Yadi Anugerah describes how he integrates the kadedek into his contemporary compositions. In Indonesian with German translation.
Price: Included in the cost of admission to the exhibition. No need to book.
