Sounds determine our everyday lives and can be heard all around us, even in what seem to be the quietest moments. Every single place has its own soundscape, shaped by our immediate surroundings, by animals and people, by their actions and interactions. How does the setting affect the perception of what we hear? How do the environment, sound, people and music relate to each other?
Ute Hecht takes visitors on a tour around the exhibition and enter into a dialogue with contemporary music and encourage visitors to reflect upon the significance of sounds in their own lifeworld.

∇ Indonesian summer festival in the park: gamelan, angklung and food marketΔ SUMMER FESTIVALIndonesian summer festival in the park: gamelan, angklung and food market
The gamelan and angklung symbolise Indonesia’s sound and music cultures, both domestically and on the international stage. Thanks to Wacana Budaya, Frankfurt has been able to boast its own gamelan orchestra for the last forty years. The consulate general of the Republic of Indonesia in Frankfurt am Main also has an angklung group. You can hear both groups live at this summer festival in the park. The concert will also feature Indonesian dance by the group Pesona Indonesia. So bring your picnic blanket along and enjoy an afternoon with Indonesian music. And if you fancy a bite to eat there will be Indonesian specialities on offer at the food market.
Price: Free of charge. No need to book.
Venue: Metzler Park, behind the Weltkulturen Museum, Schaumainkai 35, 60594 Frankfurt am Main
